The warts can also appear on the palm of the hands, or the soles of the foot. Unlike warts on other areas of the skin, warts on these pressure-bearing points can be painful. The responsible strains for lesions on this anatomical site are HPV1 and sometimes HPV2. Commonly targeting the population of school-going children and adolescents, this type of wart can occur as solitary lesions, or multiple warts may appear in a constellation, called the mosaic type. The symptoms of this type of warts are:

  • Painful and tender blisters on the skin of the soles of foot or palms.
  • Thickened and yellowish skin surrounding the wart, separating it from the normal skin. This sign can confuse a wart with a callus, which is a hardened skin tissue due to friction.
