Severe dehydration
When water loss causes a decline of 10% of body weight, it is termed as severe dehydration. The following symptoms occur and have a propensity to develop further complications rapidly.
Irritability
Especially in severe forms, mood alterations can occur, causing patients to feel less focused, and tired. This can be a result of fluctuation in serotonin secretion in dehydration. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter in the brain responsible for mood alerting, wellbeing and happiness. Decreased serotonin can lead to depression and anxiety and irritability.
