Any salad vegetable or roughage is very beneficial for your gut health. The cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, Brussel sprouts, and cabbage are rich in fiber content, thus giving you the fiber to improve your digestion and excretion at the same time. The fiber in these vegetables enables the waste food, i.e., the stool to bulk up by absorbing water and then create pressure on the colon to move on due to its volume.
